I know what you are and who you are
I know why you hide in plain sight
Afraid of what shines in the light
Far more comfortable playing in the dark with me
I cannot say that I mind
I make my bow; extend a hand with a smile for my lady
For I am a gentleman
Gild the lily and sweep her off her feet
Let us dance above it all in the vampires waltz
A mask for my eyes to shield you from my honesty
A mask for your face to shield me from your deceit
Two women live beneath and below them a third
I love all equally
And accept all completely
The shy one
The wild one
The dark woman of mystery
A regal beauty and an evil temptress
The hats she wears are legendary
When she holds court all listen
Queen of pink roses and thorns
Regent of sapphires and emeralds
Fair of personality and full of grace
Perhaps one day our feet shall touch the earth in this dance
I watch and I wait
I listen and I hear
I see what is meant to be seen and some of that which is not
I know
And she knows that I know
My lips sealed in a silent tender smile
The dance goes on,
The effort she has put forth into each role never to be undone by me.
